Snip It Down
Hey lovelies!! Welcome back to my blog! Today we are going to go over some editing that was done in order to piece our opening sequence. I hope you enjoy reading!
Throughout this process, I took a main part in directing the film and getting our scenes together. Saying this, my strong suit is in directing and coming up with new creative ideas to add in our film. While I didn't directly edit our project, I was deeply involved in the process. I communicated closely with my group member who took on the editing responsibilities and gave her some input here and there.
Already having brainstormed and written out our opening sequence, we were aligned on our vision for the opening sequence. Through our brainstorming in class and through the phone, we were able to map out the visual narrative we desired for this project. Here is when I gave lots of suggestions and feedback, to ensure that our initial idea was still being conveyed.
Collaboration and communication was key during this time as we went through various editing sessions. I would say though, I have gained more understanding of editing from my last project. During filming we knew how the clips added up no matter how much time we thought we had. With this we eventually had to speed up certain parts of our film to make it all fit in the time limit. Now that we were conscious of this, we filmed to ensure that this would no longer be necessary.
Although we are almost done with editing, I have continued to play a role in helping wherever I can to make this an easier load on my friend that's editing. One of the best parts of this was being able to see our opening sequence come together through the preview clips. I will not lie it felt very cringe to watch our acting. I did not even watch my last project more than twice.
Now that we are almost done, my group has gotten closer as individuals and to completing. This experience has taught me that filmmaking is collaborative and there is not one thing a person can do on their own. It requires a special synergy of different talents to achieve excellence. And I am proud to have found that with these girls.
Thank you for hanging out today. Remember to stay fabulous and I'll see you sooner than you think.
