Movie Research: The Nun II

Image
Hey lovelies welcome back!!!! The movie we’re choosing is the nun part ll. This movie came out in 2023 and is in the genre horror. It all starts when a priest is murdered in the chapel but this isnt the first time and after that it goes downhill. The main characters go on a hunt to figure out what is happening to spark up all these murders while fighting for their lives also. The nun has so many aspects on how to shoot a horror movie properly. It gives the jump-scares while also keeping us on the edge of our seats which is what we hope to achieve with our movie. In the nun ll there is a scene where it is a medium shot that pans from the main character to the nun which is a jump-scare. At first you dont know what is happening but then its shown which leaves you on edge. Having these types of scenes in our movie keeps the audience engaged. What was liked about the movie is that even though it was horror, it gave us a story line to follow. It wasn’t all jump-scares and anxiety induced s

Movie Research: Us

Image
Heyy lovelies, welcome back to my blog!! As we continue our project we have a bit more research to get done. Today we will be looking into the movie "Us" produced and directed by Jordan Peele, released in 2019. In my opinion this is not your typical horror film. Throughout the entire movie, Peele effectively employs suspense and fear to keep viewers on the edge of their seats. A feeling of horror is created by the careful timing and utilization of visual and audio signals. Peele ups the bar on the entire intensity of the film's experience by breaking conventional horror clichés and expectations. In our final task, we want to include this as well. That level of intensity really keeps the audience engaged and produces a nice project that fits into the horror genre.  "Us" is filled with metaphor and symbolism, enabling audiences to dig deeper into the story. For example, the doppelgängers' red jumpsuits represent those who are oppressed and less fortunate par

Movie Research: IT

Hey lovelies!! Welcome back. Today you will be following me on a journey to dig deep in to a horror movie of our choice. Looking at the CLAMPS, CAMS and editing of various horror movies helps to best understand what I should have in my short film. Today I will be looking at the move IT an adaptation of the novel IT by Stephen King. I will answering some questions to get a better understanding of the movie.  1. What conventions of the genre did the movie have that you liked?     - One convention that was noticeable throughout the movie would the atmosphere. The movie creates a dark and eerie atmosphere, that makes the viewer uncomfortable. It also included one of the main aspects that give a horror movie it's name... jump scares. Throughout watching this movie, I had no idea when the next jump scare was which makes it really thrilling to watch. Also seeing the costumes compliment the characters was amazing. The monster's performance tied perfectly with its creepy and unsettlin

And the Winner IS.......

Hey lovelies! Thank you for joining me on my journey to deciding which genre I will be going with. After going through and researching genres such as sci-fi, horror and romance my group and I were able to pinpoint which genre fit what my group and I are looking for. Are you ready for the final reveal?!! Ok, I'll let you know in a bit but first let me tell you some of our honorable mentions. The first once was romance, which is honestly such a cute genre but it's conventions wasn't what were were looking for. Second and last is sci-fi which was a really interesting genre to research but its CLAMPS didn't sit right with us. That leaves us with one last genre making it our winner which is.... horror! Congratulations to horror being the best fit genre for our final task. It was the conventions for me. Especially it's use of unique and unusual camera angles to invoke an uneasy feeling in the viewer. Thank you for coming with us on this journey to find a genre.

Genre Research: Sci-Fi

Image
Hey lovelies, welcome back to my blog!! Today we are researching a very popular genre: Sci-Fi.... aka science fiction.  Science fiction extends the boundaries of reality for viewers and is a light of imagination in the massive field of cinematic storytelling. With their futuristic settings and technical wonders, science fiction films adhere to a set of rules that characterize the essence of the genre. Let's take a tour through the universe of science fiction conventions. At the heart of any sci-fi movie lies a dazzling array of futuristic gadgets and advanced technology. From interstellar spaceships to artificial intelligence, these films transport viewers to worlds where the boundaries of scientific achievement are pushed to the extreme. Science fiction stories frequently feature aliens and unearthly creatures. These extraterrestrial contacts, whether peaceful or hostile, offer a sense of mystery and wonder that broadens the scope of possible storylines beyond Earth. Ste

Genre Research: Horror

Hey lovelies! Nice to see you again. After going through romance, I decided we needed a bit of a switch up and look into horror where things get a bit more interesting.  There are many camera angles, shots and movements in the horror genre. Extreme close-ups, tracking shots, wide shots, and perspective shots are frequently used in horror film cinematography. Because it tilts a picture to one side off its horizon, the Dutch angle, also known as the oblique angle, is a go-to horror angle. This particular camera perspective can add a weird or terrifying atmosphere to a scenario where the structured shots preceding and following it already feel unnatural.  Lighting, costumes and setting are very crucial in making horror films. Horror movies are the main uses for low-key lighting because of the effects it produces. The moody color and shadows produced by this lighting are appropriate for the horror genre; it builds suspense by managing the amount of the characters' and sett

Genre Research: Romance

Hey lovelies welcome back! I'll be taking you on a journey to finding what genre my group and I should go with. But first to do that I have to deep dive into them. This is the first genre out of three. Within movies they're certain genres that catch the watchers attention and certain things that keep it. Romance is always a safe option because it will always catch an audiences attention. It can go the sappy cute way or the sad yet still romantic which is why it is such a great genre. The projects I decided to research were Hallmark romance movies.  For romance the part that captures is the way the love story builds up from the bottom up or the history that is behind the relationship. What isn't appealing is the cliche aspect. Giving the audience a taste of something that isn't real and having them believe in a delusional state of reality. This is a non appealing aspect but besides that romance movies are nice to watch. Some examples are Love on the Sidelines, The

Our Pitch

Image
Hey lovelies, here is our group pitch. We have came up with two pitches and have decided on one.  1. A girl is talking to an online friend and decides to meet up with them one night and it ends up taking an unexpected turn. 2. Friends are sitting, watching the news when a missing poster of one of the friends shows up on the news. Who is that person sitting there with them and what happened with the friend? Now we will go into further detail about our first pitch. We are interested in our first pitch because it really piques our interest in the horror field. It will be easy to film since we would film it mainly at a mall which is public and free. We have lots of ideas on how we would direct this pitch and it comes very easy to us. The only difficulty on choosing this pitch is having to find actors and if we would all be available to film at the same time.  For our second pitch it be easy for us to film because there wou

Getting The Band Together

Hey lovelies! Welcome back to another blog. This one is pretty exciting since I am starting on a new project. This one is going to be a music video.    I actually do not know much about music videos other than it relates to the audio being used in the background. Other than that, I have decided to collaborate with some brilliant minds to get this done. I am working with my two friends Mariajose and Giovannia and another classmate Adriana, who I am working with for the first time, but she is a close friend.    I decided to work with these people because I get along the most with them in the classroom. Also I have been able to observe that they are hard workers who get their work done and care about their grades. In our last project, they made very impressive commercials and I believe that if we partner together it would be great.     This project will give me an opportunity to work more on my directing and acting skills, but I definitely like t

A New Beginning!

Hey there, lovelies! I'm back! Welcome to my next blog, I will be informing you all on my next project. Drum roll please.... a short film!! But before that, here's a little refresher of who I am. So, here's the scoop: I'm a Miami, Florida native, but my roots trace back to Nigeria thanks to my parents. I'm the third child in a family of six, split right down the middle with three boys and three girls.      Oh, and did I mention I have this adorable orange tabby cat? We've been inseparable for the past two years, and we bonded during the COVID pandemic when I fell head over heels in love with cats.      I'm not just a homebody, though; I'm super active in my community and at school. I'm involved in various clubs and activities, like the Peace Club and MindFULL Me. These clubs focus on students' mental health and creating a better school environment. I'm also a tutor and mentor, lending
