Last Draft

Hey lovelies! Aren't you all excited?! This is the last blog I'll write to you before my video comes out. I know you're getting excited, but I am still a bit nervous.        Now I know why movies take a year to film and what feels like almost another year to edit it. This video has honestly been no joke. When we got into class that next period, it was already hard trying to meet up with everyone and discuss. This was due to the majority of us in the group being senior so we do not get much time to do anything.        At first I did not approach the subject because everyone was so busy. So I introduced it once we were all settled down. There I got a closer look at the video and was able to come up with suggestion. The only extra thing I suggested was that we had transition and some fade ins and outs. This would make our video go smoothly.     In my opinion, editing is one of the more boring parts of making a video. But it is all worth it to the very end. Having to

Getting The Video Together

Image
Hey lovelies!! I'm so excited to be back and writing to you about the best music video ever made. My group mates and I will be super stars after this. But before that, I need to fill you in on the editing process.       When we finished filming, I decided to bring the group together to see who would like to do what specifically in editing. One of my groupmates immediately jumped in to do it, as she has not taken on any of the other tasks we previously shared. Out of curiosity, I asked her what platform she would be using to edit and with no surprise she said CapCut. I immediately offered my service to help out whenever I can.       Two weeks later, she messaged me on my opinion of what she had so far. She pointed out the problem she saw while editing. I watched over the video and noticed the problems she outlined to me earlier. I immediately went to work and gave her advice on some things I've learned when I first used CapCut.      A funny part if that when I saw it, sh

On Set: Tower Shops

Hey lovelies! And welcome back to my blog. As promised I will be going in to what I did once I got on the location to film. While getting to the location I got nervous because I was getting late. The agreed film time was 8:30 but due to a situation at home I was not able to get there until 8:50. When texting my group mates of my location, I felt immediately better because two of my other group mates we already late.         Before getting there, I was in charge of acquiring the props we needed for the video to film. In my car, I packed a small bouquet of flowers and 3 balloons for a valentines shoot. At first I thought that I could just leave the balloons in my back seat to avoid any problems while driving. That ended up changing because I had to tie the balloons closer to the flowers so they would not be moving around as much.        Once I got there, I met up with one of my groupmates to start coming up with ideas of where and how we were going to film. Then the res

What's Your ETA?

Hey lovelies! It's great to see you again!! Today I'll be going in to further detail about our filming process. You have to definitely know where I filmed and how my group and I decided on it.          After my group and I decided on what we were going to film which is a break up video, I immediately brought up the question on where we should film. I live in Miramar and I knew that going to school in Fort Lauderdale, my group mates could possibly live in other areas of Broward County. As my group mates started naming the cities they live in, I recognized that we all live on opposite sides of Fort Lauderdale and none of us live in it.      Having other friends who live in Fort Lauderdale, when we hang out we would find a place that is not too far of a drive for us. It can even be considered a midpoint. That midpoint is Dania, which is the first place I suggested after knowing how far everyone lived. Just to put it out there my friends and I rarely hang out because of

Music Options... Too Many To Decide

Hey lovelies!! Come in closer, quick! Alright, are you close enough? Let me let you in on a little secret. Heartbreak Anniversary wasn't my first choice. I know I know, its shocking right? I talked so highly about it and made it seem like it was the only option there for me. But that's not true because this song was still in debate until a day before my shoot date. Let me tell you a bit more about what I mean.         Like I mentioned to you in my earlier post, I wanted to avoid doing any relationship songs and instead do a song with a different vibe. This vibe was going to be more of a neutral vibe like a girls just want to have fun vibe. And I mentioned this to my group as well since we are an all girl group. The songs I had in mind for this was California Girls by Katy Perry, Shake it Off by Taylor Swift, and I Got It by Thuy just to name a few.         After I brought this up to my group we sat and pondered, then another person suggested we do a relationship

Quick! Where do I go next?

Hey lovelies! Welcome back! It's been a while since I've posted. A lot of things have progressed since then. Today I'll go a little deeper into how my music video thinking process looked like.            Heartbreak Anniversary did not come to my mind at all when I first thought of a song. Actually, I wanted to stray away from any songs that had to deal with relationships because I was not sure if I would be working with a group. I did not want to ask one of my guy friends to help be in my video since that would be completely awkward. I was at first thinking of a song that had more do with living a carefree teenage life, a song that would resemble how I feel more at the moment.           When first thinking about this music video, I felt a bit intimidated. My mind was thinking about being on camera and having to act. Having this be readily on my mind made me very nervous on how I would be able to pull this off. Luckily, I found a group I could work wi

Scene Breakdown

Hey and welcome back lovelies! Today is about the storyboard for a music video that me and my group picked out. In total we used a total of 12 slides in our storyboard as it was mandatory. We also made sure that the scenes would not take too long as there was a time limit of 1 minute, 15 seconds. We also decide that we would cut out some music parts so that it could reach the time limit. Well, that's enough explaining here's my storyboard. Box 1 It is scene inside a car where it is decorated with valentine decorations and the girl is popping a balloon that her ex gave her. Box 2 In scene 2, it is a flashback of when it was Valentine's Day, and the car was not decorated. It also shows that the girls' boyfriend gave her a hoodie as a gift for valentines.   Box 3 In scene 3, it goes back in the present and it shows a fight between the girl and her boyfriend which led to them breaking up and the girl throwing the hoodie that her now ex-boyfriend gave on valentine

Research Blog: Music Video Conventions

Hey lovelies! Welcome back to my blog. So, in my last blog, I couldn't wait to spill the tea on my next big project. But guess what? I have to admit, making a music video is a whole new world for me, and I'm kind of clueless about it. But hey, that's what learning is all about right? So a few days back, me and my awesome team decided to do some homework. We watched a bunch of music videos for this course. And let me be the first to tell you, it was quite entertaining. We also checked out some music videos in the contemporary R&B genre, which is the vibe of the song we've chosen. These videos are the ones I will be telling you all about. Now, let me break it down for you: Contemporary R&B is like a musical smoothie that blends rhythm and blues with a dash of pop, a sprinkle of soul, a pinch of funk, a scoop of hip hop, and just a hint of electronic vibes. It's got this chill and soulful groove with some seriously cool vocal arrange

You Heard it Right... I am Doing a Music Video!!

Image
Hey lovelies! Welcome back to another blog. This one is pretty exciting since I am starting on a new project. This one is going to be a music video.    I actually do not know much about music videos other than it relates to the audio being used in the background. Other than that, I have decided to collaborate with some brilliant minds to get this done. I am working with my two friends Mariajose and Giovannia and another classmate Shabriana, whom I learned today that we share a similar music interest.     I decided to work with these people because I get along the most with them in the classroom. Also I have been able to observe that they are hard workers who get their work done and care about their grades. In our last project, they made very impressive commercials and I believe that if we partner together it would be great.     This project will give me an opportunity to work more on my directing and acting skills, but I definitely like to be behind the camera directing more. And the New Project is......

Hey there, lovelies! I'm back! Welcome to my next blog, I will be informing you all on my next project. Drum roll please.... a music video!! But before that, here's a little refresher of who I am. So, here's the scoop: I'm a Miami, Florida native, but my roots trace back to Nigeria thanks to my parents. I'm the third child in a family of six, split right down the middle with three boys and three girls.      Oh, and did I mention I have this adorable orange tabby cat? We've been inseparable for the past two years, and we bonded during the COVID pandemic when I fell head over heels in love with cats.      I'm not just a homebody, though; I'm super active in my community and at school. I'm involved in various clubs and activities, like the Peace Club and MindFULL Me. These clubs focus on students' mental health and creating a better school environment. I'm also a tutor and mentor, lending
